And Another One Bites the Dust

Well, ladies, another prince is off the market. Fortunately, he’s not really a prince of the “handsome” variety. In fact, I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any of his mother’s beautiful genes stewing inside his exponentially less beautiful self. I’m referring, of course, to Prince Albert II of Monaco, who wed his South African, Olympic-swimming wife (what is it about princes loving the South Africans?) in a civil ceremony on Friday. The duo exchanged vows in the same room where the stunning Grace Kelly went from mere Oscar winner to princess 55 years ago.

The wedding comes at the end of a scandal-ridden week, with Charlene, the bride-to-be, allegedly trying to escape her betrothed - 20 years her senior - after finding out that he quite possibly fathered yet a third illegitimate child, with yet a third baby mama. (Where I come from, we have a name for people like that. And it ain’t “prince.”)

The allegations of a runaway bride were, of course, quickly denied by the palace and at press time everything seems to be all smiles and diamonds for the prince and his wife, the newly appointed Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco.

Awkward is awkward in any language

I just wonder how serene she’ll be when Baby Mama numbers 4 and 5 come looking for their piece of the jewel-encrusted pie.
